Concept and feasibility study pet competence center Switzerland
According to Statista.com (2018) over half of Swiss households own a pet. With the role of the pet changing to a fully accepted family member, the needs of pet owners developed with it. The need for a centralised platform as a point of contact thereby emerged.

The pet and the relationship their owners changed significantly in the last decades. This induces new needs for pet owners and the areas affected regarding their pets have grown in number and depth.
Currently, pet owners must look for the answers to their concerns on several different platforms and websites. With the existing partner institutions, a lot of expertise is already available
to provide a sophisticated competence center, where inquiries can be addressed in an easily accessible and centralised manner.
The study was done in three steps. In a first step, literature was analysed regarding the role of the pet and its development.
In a second step the Canvas business model was applied to structure the existing components and thoughts into a well-arranged format.
Thirdly, three expert interviews were conducted to gain insight into the several different areas which are of concern for the competence center from different points of view.
The insights gained in the abovementioned sections were then used to suggest a setup of the pet competence center Switzerland.
The results are the following:
Literature Review regarding the role of the pet and its development. In the categories: Legal and cultural groundwork, economic groundwork, statistics, and the pet's impact in society the subject was analysed through literary research.
Canvas Model describing the different dimensions of the concept study. Following a descriptive part regarding the dimension, each aspect of the business model is applied to the competence center and thoughts / potential options in the matter are listed.
Suggestion of set up of the pet competence center. The findings are then converted into a suggestion on how the competence center could potentially be set up. Each component is described, and potential pitfalls, key partners, and pro / contra bullets are listed. Additionally, the feasibility is rated from 1 - 10 and gives an indication on how difficult a potential inclusion could be.
Lastly, recommendations for further studies are suggested, as well as a task list for a potential set up
