An In-Depth Event Management Software Assessment for a Multinational Pharmaceutical Company during COVID-19

With the advent of COVID-19, the event management team at a subsidiary of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world has rapidly transformed its focus from physical to digital events in order to provide physicians and pharmacists with opportunities for further educational events.

A solution using two other systems was procured and implemented in order to conduct digital events. However, that solution did not cover all required functionalities, and certain features still had to be carried out in the old system. With the current event team using a total of three different event management systems to conduct and document events, a solution using only one system is to be found. One particular candidate is an event management software that is part of the current landscape of the parent company and promises to solve shortcomings of the old systems.
Project goals were reiterated, stakeholders identified, requirements constructed, current processes documented, and lastly, scores were given regarding the degree of fulfillment of posed requirements in a final utility analysis to produce a comprehensive evaluation result.
It was found that the proposed event management software possesses every required module to conduct both physical and digital events, support local compliance processes, and counteract ob-served weaknesses in current implementations. While current systems were able to score higher in certain categories due to specific strengths, the proposed system displayed consistent above-aver-age scoring. The paper concludes with the recommendation of the proposed system, limitations of the evaluation and suggest future steps in regards to an implementation of the proposed system.
